Parade nights are held at Squadron on every Monday and Thursday evenings from 19:00 to approximately 21:15.
Cadets will be able to attend a wide variety of activities, competitions, camps, volunteering events and fundraising which will take place outside of Parade nights.
The cadets parade regularly through most school holidays with squadron only closing at Christmas and on Bank Holidays.
We ask that the first payment of £20 is paid in cash to the Squadron office. Cadets will receive a Squadron polo shirt so that they can feel a part of the squadron.
Following this, a monthly subscription of £20.00 is payable via Standing Order through your bank. These payments continue until the cadet leaves the squadron (i.e. when they return any
uniform or other equipment they have borrowed, and their 3822 Record of Service Book has been signed and stamped).
Before they have completed initial training new cadets must wear either full school uniform or squadron t-shirt with a school skirt/trousers and school shoes.
Once they have completed their initial training, cadets will be provided with a uniform to wear on parade night.
The uniform will consist of a ‘working blues’ shirt (dark blue) worn on most parade nights and a ‘Wedgewood’ shirt (light blue) which is used for external parades and events where cadets need to be in that uniform. It will also include a tie, trousers or a skirt and a jumper. It will not include the ‘greens’ uniform which can be purchased either online or at shops in the area. Excellent quality seconds are available from the shops. Ask at squadron for details as we occasionally have greens available for sale that have been donated by cadets who have left the squadron.
Over the first few weeks and months, your cadet will probably have lots of questions about all things Air Cadets. How to wear their uniform, where the badges go, what sort of activities they can go on, etc.
When any new cadet joins the squadron, they will learn all the basics of being a cadet and will be with others in the same position. A number of more experienced cadets will be in charge of their ‘flight’ (e.g. a Corporal and a Sergeant) and they should be the first point of call for any questions – they are very approachable so please encourage your cadet to go and talk to them, as they have been in the same position and understand. Of course, the staff are always available too.
As well as the official uniform, which is issued to the cadets, the squadron has some branded items of clothing which can be purchased for an additional cost (e.g. polo-shirts, hoodies, etc.).
When we receive your message, your parent/carer will be contacted with more details about your visit and what to do next. We look forward to seeing you!
